tunesday

I mean, what would Christmas week be without this classic from Mrs. Nick Cannon herself? Feel free to turn the volume up loud and make everyone in your office sing along ;)

[Also, Happy first day of Chanukah to those celebrating!]

tunesday

This song/band is my newest obsession. Grouplove is an indie-rock-ish band, and they're on repeat on my spotify playlist these days. "Colours" is the first single off their debut album, "Never Trust A Happy Song." The music is laid-back, but catchy. Perfect festival music --which, sadly, they were at Lollapalooza this past year, and it bums me out to no end that I didn't know their stuff before hand. Such is life, though--not a reason to enjoy the music now!

tunesday

This tunesday is all about my favorite and frequent subject of this blog, Lady Gaga. Her new vid is beyond amazing. The song is her love letter to her hometown of NYC, and the video gives us a little glimpse, however embellished, into how she became the person she is today. 13 minutes of heaven.

tunesday

My latest obsession is Childish Gambino, the alter-ego of comedian and actor, Donald Glover. His latest album, Camp, is phenomenal. I have been listening to it non-stop. Here's his performance of Bonfire from Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

Be prepared for some serious swagger.

tunesday

Lollapalooza is exactly ONE MONTH away! I can't wait to be back in the midwest with my sister, and a couple other awesome peoples, sitting in a park, getting a wicked sunburn and listening to music--all day long. three days straight. Here's another artist who's going to be taking the stage in Grant Park: Kid Cudi. This songs been out for awhile, but it's still a goodie.

tunesday

Katy Perry takes the cake with her video for one of my guilty pleasure favs, 'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.).' As if the song weren't catchy enough, the dork-tastic video just makes it that much better.

And I still swear she followed around my friends one weekend in the Sault before she wrote this.  ;)

[edit: completely forgot to mention all of the amazing cameos! blasts from the past, and some current favs.]

tunesday

The Lollapalooza schedule comes out today and I can't wait to start figuring out which bands I will definitely be seeing and how many bands I can fit in over the three days. Today's tunesday is one of the headliners this year, the Foo Fighters. Fingers crossed they aren't up against another band I want to see, I hate making difficult decisions--especially when it comes to music.

tunesday

This weeks tunesday is, as you could probably guess, another band I'm dying to see at Lollapalooza this year. Super sassy rocker chick, with just as sassy rocker music. Let's hope the scheduling of bands allows it to happen.

tunesday

Sorry this is so late! But it's still Tuesday, therefore. Still Tunesday! :) Here's another band I'm way pumped about seeing at Lollapalooza! I've been a fan of Cage the Elephant for about a year, and this was the song that started it. Check them out!

tunesday

Lollapalooza has released its 20th anniversary lineup, and while the headliners don't necessarily scream "20th anniversary" to me, I'm pretty pumped. And theres a TON of supporting acts that I'm super stoked to be checking out. Today's tunesday is one of those bands. A friend at my last internship told me about this band, and I really like what I've heard, and can't wait to see them at Lolla!!!

tunesday

I heard this cover of Rihanna's "Please Don't Stop the Music" when I was at Trader Joe's a couple weeks ago, and almost didn't recognize it. But before I could Shazaam it on my phone, it reached the chorus and I instantly knew who it was. I wish Jamie Cullum would just put out a whole album of covers. If you like this one, check out his cover of Pharrell's "Frontin'."

tunesday

I'm feeling pretty nostalgic these days, and I decided, since I ride the 6 train just like J.Lo (although, I'm not living in the Bronx), why not feature her this Tunesday? :) Enjoy.

tunesday

It's barely winter, and I'm already *most* tired of it. I want to go to a rainforest hipster hippie party with this band. It looks like the best way to spend a day away from reality.

tunesday

It's tunesday again, and this week's pick is a peppy tune, with a pretty NSFW message. I love the old-school, throwback jam style of the song and vid, but the words pack a punch from a jilted love. This is not one to blast in a public setting, but if you're at home and having a bad day, by all means, crank the volume and belt it out...

tunesday

Oh man. I am really bad at keeping up with this lately. It's my Thanksgiving promise to me to get back on track with this thing. In the meantime, here's my pick for this week's tunesday: Arcade Fire's 'Rococo.' Beautiful.

tunesday

This week's tunesday pick is from a band that's gained popularity in recent months, and have released a new album. Kings of Leon's new release, 'Come Around Sundown,' has that gritty, southern sound I've come to love about Kings, and I really like what I've heard so far. Here's their first single, Radioactive.

tunesday

This week's tunesday pick comes from an artist who is also an actor. Jason Schwartzman is no stranger to the screen, nor to music, being the original drummer from Phantom Planet. His solo effort, Coconut Records is perfect "Saturday morning, grab some coffee and a book and sit on the porch in the sun" kind of music.  His song "Summer Day" was used in some Apple commercials, and features Kirsten Dunst on guest vocals.

Thanks to my sister for telling me to dl their CDs when I was looking for new tunes.<3

*This is not the official video for "Wires," but it was the best I could find :)

tunesday

This weeks tunesday is launching the solo career of the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, Brandon Flowers of the Killers. His solo CD, Flamingo, is one of the best I've heard in a looong time. Check out the debut single, Crossfire, below, and check out the rest of his CD! So fab.

p.s. happy 25th anniversary to my parents!

tunesday

In honor of the Britney Spears tribute episode of 'Glee' tonight, today's tunesday pick is one of my favorite vintage Britney videos.

tunesday

This week's tunesday video is from another band I saw at Lollapalooza, Arcade Fire. My sister has been into them for a while, but I just recently started listening, and I'm so glad I did. They're a pretty uniquely put together band, with an amazing sound. This is one of my favorites of theirs. Enjooooy.
