book worm

I love books. My favorite kinds are 'coffee table books,' aka ones that fancy homes have casually lying around the house making them look well-read. I also love books that are beautifully covered and bound. I was browsing the newest anthropologie catalog and discovered the vast selection of books they offer, and decided to share some of my favorites with you! Most of these can be found on anthropologie's website, but they all can be found on Amazon as well! From fashion books, to novels, to travel, to pure entertainment, maybe you'll discover a gift or two for the book worm on your shopping list this year!

somewhere over the rainbow...

In honor of the 70th Anniversary of one of my favorite movies of all time, "The Wizard of Oz," here are the four main characters re-imagined for a fabulous fashionista and her friends, both by myself and a spread for the NY Post, as well as some recreations of Dorothy's classic ruby red slippers.

Mine are a more costume-y, literal approach to the characters, so I hope they're self-explanatory :)

I'm working on the witches in watercolor, too...I just haven't had time to paint them yet.

These are from the NY Post:

I couldn't pull up the slideshow, but these happened to be available!

and some of my favorites...SHOES!

and here's one of my favorite spreads of all time, from a previous post. So in love with this movie...

we're off to see the wizard

For the second installment of my movie/fashion series, I chose the iconic and timeless 'Wizard of Oz.' This is one of my favorite movies ever, the colors, the music, the story, Toto...and I love Judy Garland. I love that this story has been interpreted, and reinterpreted over and over again. It spawned the Broadway musical 'Wicked,' the mini-series 'Tin Man,' starring the fabulous Zoey Deschanel, among other things. This is one of the movies I wanted more than anything for the fashion show, but, movies were assigned by luck of the draw, and it didn't go in my favor for this one...{but I do love my movie} This is a spread from Vogue, shot by Annie Leibowitz, and featuring a plethora of designers re-imagining Dorothy's classic dress. I also created an inspiration board on Polyvore, and tried to make a mix of high and low end pieces to put a spin on the costumes...and included a pop culture reference or two {Elton's Greatest Hits anyone??}
