music/fashion

Style.com had a spread featured in the next issue of Vogue that combined two of my favorite things--fashion & music! I am constantly inspired in my designs by my favorite music of the moment, and cannot get enough of mixing the two. These images feature bands that Vogue thinks you should get familiar with, if you aren't already. I am working on downloading those that I haven't heard as we speak :)

a single man

Tom Ford, former creative director at Gucci, and created the Tom Ford line, has directed and produced his first film titled 'A Single Man.' Set in the 1960's, it follows a gay college professor in SoCal, played by Colin Firth. It received critical acclaim at the Venice Film Festival, and opens in select cities this Friday. If the film is anything near the quality of Tom Ford's designs, it will be stunning.

I will be, weather permitting, heading to NYC for a long weekend Friday morning, so happy weekend to you all!

t-swizzle

These images from the New York Times Style magazine interview with Taylor Swift are amazing! They show a completely different look for her, which I adore. They cover the bases of her trademark sparkles, but do it in a mature, sophisticated, but still fun, way. If her music career fades anytime soon, she'd have a fantastic career as a model, these clothes look fabulous on her...

and here's my red carpet creation for Taylor Swift :)

pre-fall 2010

Designers have begun to release their pre-fall collections, and so far, I'm pretty pleased with the results. Diane von Furstenberg is my favorite, so far--I want every piece, it's perfection! I loved the streamlined silhouettes Alexander Wang showed, and the sophisticated-chic from Rachel Roy. The use of color in Versace's collection was really exciting to me also--that cobalt blue was to die for!

book worm

I love books. My favorite kinds are 'coffee table books,' aka ones that fancy homes have casually lying around the house making them look well-read. I also love books that are beautifully covered and bound. I was browsing the newest anthropologie catalog and discovered the vast selection of books they offer, and decided to share some of my favorites with you! Most of these can be found on anthropologie's website, but they all can be found on Amazon as well! From fashion books, to novels, to travel, to pure entertainment, maybe you'll discover a gift or two for the book worm on your shopping list this year!

Fun reads from anthropologie:

these classic books are instantly updated with fresh covers to give a chic look worthy of displaying!
[the picture of dorian gray, sense and sensibility, and great expectations]

CFDA cookbook, Vintage Cocktails, Grey Gardens companion book

Creature, Taschen's New York, HUE

The Gospel According to Coco Chanel, My Wonderful World of Fashion, The Sartorialist

domino: the book of decorating, This is London, Transit Maps of the World

personal favorites:

Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West, Taking Woodstock, RENT companion book

The Lovely Bones, Interview with the Vampire, To Kill A Mockingbird[my all time favorite!]

The Devil Wears Prada, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs

Memoirs of a Geisha, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

a kate spade christmas

I have been receiving e-mails from Kate Spade the past few days with some fantastic images of holiday inspired photos, as well as gift ideas. I got curious, checked out the website, and found a plethora of items I would love to find under the tree, as well as ideas for handmade gifts this year! Kate Spade magazine ads are some of my favorite things about the holidays [GAP ads being the other biggie!] When I am in the city next weekend [!!!] I plan on stopping by the Kate Spade store to check out the window displays. Here are some of my favorite items from the "Gift Guide!"

3rd rock from the swoon...

Please excuse that bad pun, but these pics should make up for it. Another cutie pie recently featured in GQ, is recent SNL host and star of '500 Days of Summer,' Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This spread was focusing on low-price point, but high-style menswear looks. They hit the nail on the head with these! Featuring items from GAP, Topman, H&M, and Uniqlo, and more, he looks pretty swoonworth, wouldn't you say? :)

check out NBC's website for clips from his SNL hosting gig! Adorable!

Minnie Model

In honor of Chanel Iman's first walk down the runway as a Victoria's Secret model I'm posting this spread from German Vogue. Originally, I found it on Chanel Iman's website. Love these interpretations of Minnie Mouse's classic look! Also, fun fact: this spread was shot in California, not Africa...crazy!
