This amazing spread from the July issue of Dazed & Confused magazine is exactly the brightly colored pick-me-up I need today. I can't get enough of the ruffles, pleats, mixed prints, texture, bold colors, etc, etc, etc.
True Blood starts back up in ...11 days! So this weeks swoonsday post is devoted to vampire Eric Northmanmale supermodel and Derek Zoolander's roommate, Meekus Alexander Skarsgard. Kate Bosworth's a lucky girl to have snagged this Swedish hottie.
The Resort 2011 collections are arriving, and I'm *obsesssssed* with this one from Diane Von Furstenberg. I love the grey mixed with all the bold and pastel colors--in the garments, and then setting. I love that its very casual feeling, but still work appropriate. DVF can do no wrong.
[I could actually use some of these pieces right now with the heat levels in the city the past couple days. It's h.o.t. outside!]
This weeks swoonsday is going a smidge old school. Adam Brody, aka Seth Cohen from one of the best "teen" soap operas ever, 'The O.C.,' is the perfect blend of nerd and cutie pie. Plus, his quirky personality and indie-music vibe makes him seem quite endearing, in my opinion. I'm still bummed I missed him in East Lansing when he made an appearance at a few of the bars while campaigning for Obama.
[Plus, he was half of one of my all-time favorite tv/real life couples. Seth+Summer forever.]
The Lollapalooza schedule comes out today and I can't wait to start figuring out which bands I will definitely be seeing and how many bands I can fit in over the three days. Today's tunesday is one of the headliners this year, the Foo Fighters. Fingers crossed they aren't up against another band I want to see, I hate making difficult decisions--especially when it comes to music.
I've been a J.Crew fan for years, and I love a good high-end designer/mass-market collaboration, so obviously I'm in love with Prabal Gurung's capsule collection for J.Crew. Feminine pieces mixed with over-sized bows and a gorgeous color palette make me wish [even more than I already do] I had money to spare on these beautiful garments.
A couple weekends ago, I stumbled across a gem in Chelsea. The Limelight Marketplace is a collection of shops in an old Episcopal church, and it's incredible!! They've managed to keep a lot of the original architecture and integrity of the building intact, yet sprucing it up just enough to make it a really sophisticated and modern place. Also scattered throughout, food vendor spaces, including the best gelato I've ever had, and even a wine bar! The shops are all quite unique, from brands I recognized to things I'd never heard of. If you're in NYC and want a unique experience, check this place out! I know I'll be going back...even if its just for the gelato. :)
