christmas bells are ringing...

and I have been compiling my "wish list." I really don't have anything I really truly need for Christmas this year, but I still managed to come up with a few things I wouldn't mind waiting under the tree for me from Santa or someone else... :)

*This could grow, shrink and change over the next few weeks, but this is what I could think of tonight, and is in no special order...

l-r: "the wizard of oz" book, ipod case, nyc pillowcases, gossip girl season 1 dvd

l-r: wizard of oz on dvd, daniel vosovic's book, "inside out," legally blonde:the musical tour tickets

l-r: spring awakening tour tickets, russian matryoshka tapestry from urban outfitters, broadway cares/equity fights aids umbrella [ella, ella, eh, eh...]

l-r: "taking woodstock" [soon to be a motion picture featuring my future bff jonathan groff!!], spring awakening "in the flesh" companion book

aaaaaaaaand if you can't find anything else, this wouldn't be too bad smiling at me on Christmas morning ;)

dapper dan

Well, not really a "Dan", but a very dapper looking Brandon Flowers, of 'The Killers' fame from this photo shoot from the Men's branch of Style.com. The accompanying photos and article help give really great info and tips on how to buy a tuxedo, i.e. fit issues, things to look for, collar types, etc... I love the tux's they put on Brandon, they're all very chic and current, with a bit of old Hollywood glamour. They have a dash of James Bond, a bit of Cary Grant, a touch of the Rat Pack thrown in. And clearly, the fit is impeccable.
I'm also in love with the Killers newest single, "Human." They performed it on SNL a few weeks ago, and its been stuck in my head ever since. Check it out if you haven't heard it yet!!

fall into the GAP

Now, I realize its barely Thanksgiving yet, BUT I have been obsessed with GAP ads for years now, andt my favorite campaigns have always been for the Christmas season. This year is no exception. Not only have they put out some fabulous print ads, but they created a slew of "ReMixed" Christmas carols featuring some really random celebrity pairings and lots of interpretive dancing. My personal favorite print ad that I've seen so far is this one to the left with Jason Bateman & his adorable daughter Francesca. And while I loved all the individual ReMixed songs, I posted the entire "cast" version of "Jingle Bells"  because it was just so fun and happy! I'm sure GAP has many more ads up their sleeves to motivate us to have the holiday spirit this season, and I can't wait to see them.

from russia with love...

While browsing the latest postings at one of my new favorite blogs, the Free People blog, I discovered these fabulous Russian matryoshka dolls, aka, Russian nesting dolls. But these aren't just any fabulous nesting dolls, these nesting dolls have been designed by some of the leading designers around the world, exclusively for Russian Vogue's 10th anniversary. To the left is the sleek and sassy Marc Jacobs matryoshka, and a slew of other well known designers/companies, including Gucci, Versace, Sonia Rykel, Marni, as well a few Russian designers, [that I'll admit, I've never heard of, but plan on looking into] created some of the cutest stacking dolls I've ever seen. I have a set of wooden matryoshka dolls that are unfinished, aka, blank canvas's, that I've never known what to paint on, although now I have a bunch of ideas!!  I also think I'll be looking around NYC when I'm there in February to see if I can find some inexpensive ones for my apartment--I'll especially be checking out the flea markets, they always have such great unique things[if anyone has any tips I'd greatly appreciate it!!!].  I think they'd make the cutest coffee table centerpieces, or bookshelf decorations. They'd also be pretty great conversation starters if needed. I couldn't pick my favorite, because I found them all that amazing and creative, that I decided to share them all with you!!! I hope you like them as much as I do!
