quick post

I found this image on Apartment Therapy for a chic way to display artwork "during a recession."  I think this would be a really awesome way to display my fashion portfolio if the clipboard was tweaked to allow for easy browsing. So now I'm on the hunt...

simply amazing

If you're a fan of fashion illustration in the slightest, I have no doubt you will become instantly obsessed with Laura Laines work! I love the whimsical quality, yet amazing attention to detail of each drawing. The ruffles are so fabulous I can barely stand it! I also love how real the hair looks--flowy and windswept all with a few lines on the page! I love love love the long, skinny legs that they all have, and the stark contrast of black & white--she definitely has a style all her own, and clearly communicates her design point! She also has a lot of sketches of other designers/companies garments, but in her unique style. Some of the pictures I posted are from Zara, Gareth Pugh, and the like. She seems to have a lot of work in magazines as well.  Check out her online portfolio/website for even more of her amazing work.

lorick, be a lady...

My obsession with Abigail Lorick's company continues with this post. I found these shots on polyvore [via zimbio] and needed to see more. These were taken at the presentation of her Spring '09 collection, which is one of my favorite collections of any designer I follow, so needless to say, I was thrilled to find these! I love the styling, the photography, the layout, essentially, everything, about these pictures. Everything is so feminine, tailored, and mixed with the "tea party" setting, it all has a touch of whimsy. One of my favorite pictures is of the fireplace, overflowing with books. I hope when I make my big move to NYC my apartment has a former fireplace to use as a fabulous little nook for storage, books, maybe shoes, magazines, whatever. I just want one. If you like these images, zimbio has nearly 100 shots from behind the scenes, and it was difficult to pick my favorites, so check them out!

that little blue box

Instead of working on my final projects for school, I got [rather easily] distracted and spent a good chunk of time on Tiffany's website at jewelry I can only dream of affording. One of my favorites is this pink stone brooch to the left wrapped in a diamond bow. So simple, so chic. I also fell in love with the keys all over the website. I've always been interested in old-fashioned keys, and these simple, elegant skeleton key pendants are beautiful. I love the mix of bold statement pieces mixed with simple, minimalistic jewelry found currently on the website. Here are some of my favorites I found...and I didn't even make it to the rings before my computer froze, which is probably a good thing :)

woodstock

So this summer, I have lofty goals before I pack up and make my big move to NYC to start my career. I'm going to L.A. for a week, I want to go to Lollapalooza, be a tourist in my hometown, Lugnuts baseball, the list goes on and on, but the biggest one, should it actually happen, is go to Woodstock if [when?!] they hold a 40th anniversary concert. So what other way to dream about it than by making a polyvore set of what someone might wear to Woodstock '09? <3

grey gardens

While you really should be at the s.a.d.a. Fashion Show on Saturday night[8pm, Lansing Center, $12!] , there is still a way to have a stylish evening if you can't make it to the event. "Grey Gardens" is premiering on HBO that night. The movie, starring Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange, is based on a documentary from 1975 about Edith "Big Edie" Beale, and her daughter Edith "Little Edie" Beale, who were the aunt and first cousin of Jackie Bouvier Kennedy Onassis. The documentary focused on the point in their lives when they lived in squalor and isolation at their East Hampton mansion, but the HBO movie shows more of their lives, and how their lifestyle came to be. It also spawned a Tony nominated musical of the same name, but that production has since closed. I would really like to see this documentary, next time I'm home, I'll have to see if the video store has it to rent, otherwise I may have to join Netflix. "Grey Gardens" premieres on HBO, Saturday April 18th, 8pm.

and because I can, and am clearly obsessed, polyvore fun!

i just can't help myself...

Apparently with spring in full bloom, or at least here for the time being, there have been so many photo spreads with cute boys in their best spring fashions, and the new issue of GQ isn't any different. Their cover boy, Zac Efron, steams up this spread, although, not quite as much as his spread from Interview mag, but still. He's doing a wonderful job at shaking more of his HSM/Disney image, and embracing a more grown-up image. I realize Zac may be not everyones cup of tea, but you have to admit, he looks pretty darn good in these shots...and although I do appreciate the lack of shirt he happens to be sporting in the last shot, that is the only image that just doesn't really make sense to me in this set. Maybe they could have just stuck a really great, tailored vest and tie on him, or a deep-v tee? But, who am I to judge, the stylist clearly gets paid to do what they do, and I do not [yet.]. Hope you swoon over these as much as I did!

whoooooa!

So I know I've already posted once tonight...but I just discovered some photos from Broadway.com of Chace Crawford, aka Nate Archibald, from when he attended HAIR this past weekend. Chace Crawford & HAIR?!?!? Seriously. I'm in heaven. I can't even wrap my head around how much I LOVE this! Destiny, I tell you :) I will swoon about these as I drift off to sleep...
