i want to wake up in the city that doesn't sleep...

Last week, Wall Street Journal assigned their photographers to shoot New York City--but the twist was they must do it when most of the city was fast asleep. They got some pretty interesting images! From newspapers to street vendors, to the bar crowd, it's a fun peek into the overnight happenings in the city. When I finally make the move to the city, I'd love to do something like this, maybe scavenger hunt style and get a bunch of people involved, then share results over a big brunch? :)

thirsty thursday...

A company called Bevshots has released a series of  images of booze under a microscope, then magnified 1000x. The process consists of letting a droplet of liquor dry out completely on a slide, in an airtight container, and photographing the result with a 35mm camera. The complete process can take up to three months, and as many as 200 attempts, to properly capture the drink's unique parts. The colors in these images are FABULOUS. I love how vibrant these images are, and how high the contrast is--breathtaking. I could see a lot of these images as textile prints [hello, tequila?] I'm not sure if I'll ever see a white russian or a glass of champagne the same again. :)

sunshine hangover

Lollapalooza has come and gone...and I had a blaaast. We heard some amazing bands, discovered some new ones, witnessed Miss Lady Gaga dive into the crowd at the BMI stage, got one of the best series of sunburns ever, ate some delicious food, and got to lounge around the park for three days. The sister and I are already planning our return next summer. Here's some photos I took! Anyone else go?? Who'd you see??
