crawford, leighton meester, blake lively, and taylor momsen]
I am thoroughly
OBSESSED with the CW's newest hit show "Gossip Girl." Josh Schwartz, creator of another one of my gone too soon favorites "The O.C.," has done a marvelous job of showcasing the fabulously flawed lives of the wealthy teens of the Upper East Side of Manhattan. The show is based on the books by Cecily von Ziegesar, and from the one I've actually read, it seemed to follow it pretty faithfully, a few artistic changes here and there. Starring one of the most attractive young casts I've seen in awhile--including my new celebrity crush Chace Crawford [sigh.]--this show has it all: scandals, romance, decent plot, and the [second] best part is the amazing fashions.
Blonde bombshell Blake Lively, who plays Serena Van Der Woodsen, fits the role of the ecclectic-sophisticate of the show. Her clothes often follow the bohemian trends, but are still very high fashion and classy, while her on-again, off-again BFF, Blair Waldorf, played by Leighton Meester, pulls a modern-twist on the classic look, probably what Audrey Hepburn would wear today if she shopped at Henri Bendel. Jenny Humphrey, who is played by Taylor Momsen, is the girl from the other side of the tracks, or in this case Brooklyn, who wants to fit in with her wealthy peers, and a keen sense of fashion. Her style is a bit more of a mix and match of high and lower fashions, with a few handmade dresses thrown in. Sadly, theres only one episode left due to the ongoing and very annoying writers strike, but hopefully the CW will air re-runs, so you can get caught up and hooked! :)
