hermione haute couture

So, I fully intended this post to happen in conjuction with the newest Harry Potter flick being released, but I got side tracked with other things...so here it is now :) I decided to create a mini-collection inspired by Hermione Granger as a stylish alternative to the Hogwarts uniform--because, lets face it, those wizarding robes aren't too chic nor flattering. Obviously these looks could be translated to the muggle world as well...<3

c'est magnifique chanel

Lily Allen is the newest spokesmodel for Chanel. Love these ads, love Lily Allen. This is perfect inspiration to get me til the weekend...Happy Hump Day!

monday inspiration

It's Monday, and I have a long week of sewing costumes for a play, so I need some motivation and inspiration to keep going. Here are some more images that I've played around with in Photoshop, from a recent trip to NYC.

step through the looking glass

Disney has finally released a teaser trailer for Tim Burton's 'Alice in Wonderland.' While the imagery is beautiful, and theres no doubt I'll be able to draw a lot of inspiration from it, I'm not sure exactly how I feel about it...I'm intrigued, but I'm gonna have to see more before I can make an honest judgement* of it. What do you think?

I still have every intention of seeing it, I'm just not sure if I'm going to love Tim Burton's skewed viewpoint...only time will tell.

california dreaming...

Here are some images from my May vacation to LA. I found a really neat technique in Photoshop to pump up the contrast and intensify colors, which I applied to these pics. Simple inspiration for a breezy weekend...Happy Friday!

i wanna be rich, yeah i want lots of money...

I saw this idea over on Studs, Sequins, and Bleach , and thought it was fabulous. She took stills from the Kid Cudi video for "Make Her Say," and found color stories in them. I thought I'd try that idea with Lily Allen's video for "The Fear." For having such light, sweet colors in most of the video, there were a few stills that created really rich palettes. Music is one of my biggest inspirations when I'm designing, and I thought this was an awesome idea to try to gain even more inspiration from music, in a little different way.

I tried to embed the vid, but once again, you tube wouldn't let me :(
